National Provider Identifier (NPI)

Articles and Updates

• Medicare Fee-For-Service claims received March 1, 2008 and forward without an NPI will be rejected or returned as unprocessable.
• Delays in Medicare payments will occur if an NPI is not included on all claims effective March 1, 2008.
• You may NOT submit claims without an NPI effective March 1, 2008.
• All claims, Paper, and EMC must contain an NPI in the "primary" (billing, pay-to and rendering) fields of the claim effective March 1, 2008 and forward.
